Mr. Raghukant Joshi wanted a personal home theater within a tight budget. The client, being a passionate audio buff, had sourced all of the equipment himself. Our Home Theater Engineering team stepped in to provide expert guidance to design the interiors of the Theater, ensure perfect placement and alignment, and to revamp the interiors into a cozy hub for entertainment..
To deliver a personal home theater optimized for both cost and high-quality sound, by using technical know-how to get the best acoustics out of the room and using locally sourced materials in the home
theater room design to cut down on expenses.
Acoustics & Audio-Video
Our Home Theater Engineering team based in Hyderabad put in a 7.1.2 audio video system (7 surround speakers, 1 subwoofer, 2 ceiling atmos speakers), perfectly aligned to boost audio quality. We used a 110” Acoustically Transparent fixed frame screen from Elite Screens Company with 16:9 ratio for viewing, powered by a Sony VPL-HW55ES Full HD projector.
Overall Implementation
We put in dark wooden flooring and finished all the walls in 4.5” thick acoustic paneling with light brown fabric. The corners of the paneling in the rear walls were chamfered to boost quality of bass inside the room. The extreme left and right panels of the rear wall were made half-round, to enhance sound scattering and diffusion in the home theater wall design.
The left wall carried the AC and the entry door on the same wall was soundproofed to enhance performance.
The home theater false ceiling was the main highlight of the personal home theater interiors – it was designed in two levels, the outermost bottom level was fabric finished at 7’11” from the floor and the center was set 2” above the flat portion and enhanced by ambient cove lighting.
The center portion of the false ceiling also featured a series of asymmetric pyramids built with locally sourced pine wood. This was done to both optimize costs and enhance acoustics plus aesthetics.
The front screen wall was placed 2’ before the concrete wall, and a 110” fixed frame screen of 16:9 ratio was mounted on the front fabric wall panel, with a 2.5” velvet border all around.
For audio we used three speakers – two Arendal 1723 Tower THX speakers on the left and right, and an Arendal 1723 Center THX speaker in the center. One Arendal 1723 1V sub-woofer was placed in the front, optimized by our Talented Sound Engineers Rahul and Praveen . All of these
plus the AV rack were hidden behind the screen.
For surround sound, we used 4 wall-mounted QSC SR-8101 speakers. These were mounted one each on the left and right wall, and two on the rear wall.
- The ceiling atmos speakers used were two Acoustic Energy Aegis 180 CI speakers, placed at a natural angle created by the interior ceiling design.
- Our Hyderabad based Home Theater Engineering team put in two amplifiers to better control the sound – one Yamaha MX A5000 amplifier and a Marantz AV 7705 amplifier. We also installed two stereo amplifiers from Luxman L-I114A and Quad Elite QSP in the home theater setup.
- For high-quality viewing, we installed a 110” fixed frame screen with 16:9 ratio, powered by a Sony VPL-HW55ES 4k projector and an additional Panasonic DMP-BDT 180 blu-ray player.
- Finally, we installed a single, comfy recliner set with seating for three in the media room design for long viewing sessions.
Interior Design
Mr. Raghukant Joshi, being a passionate connoisseur of audio, had sourced high-quality audio equipment himself and wanted a cost-effective personal home theater to enjoy cinema-grade viewing sessions. Our Hyderabad based Home Theater experts were able to conduct extensive acoustic analysis to figure out the perfect placement for speakers and subwoofers, and leverage locally-sourced pine for the interiors to keep costs low and enhance overall acoustics of the home theater’s interiors. We were able to deliver a dedicated home theater at cost for Mr. Raghukant, and he was immensely pleased with the results.
