Modern-day performance venues are increasingly employing Line arrays. At the same time, these performance venues have limitations with their height and sightlines. Increasing fuel expenses puts pressure on touring music system rental companies to downsize their logistics requirements.
At the same time, the customer’s expectations for better audio performance have never been higher. To meet these needs, QSC designed and built a remarkably compact, highest power output WideLine-8 QSC Line array system available.
WideLine-8 QSC Line array system packs advanced line array technology into a supremely compact speaker package measuring just about 20” (508 mm) wide and 9” (229 mm) high.
Each tri-amplified WideLine-8 QSC Line array box uses a pair of high-power, neodymium magnet and 8” low-frequency drivers.
Two of the power amplifiers work on low frequencies while the other one extends into the mid and high range frequencies. A high-quality 3” diaphragm, neodymium compression driver mounted to QSC’s patented 140º multiple aperture diffraction waveguide handles the High-frequencies.
Wideline-8 Line array’s extraordinary dispersion characteristics deliver fabulous stereo image, reducing the need for additional fill speakers and offers flexibility in terms of placement.
The waveguide that helps in increasing sweet-spot has its exit extending all the way to the top and bottom of the Baltic birch plywood based enclosure to create a continuous sound source with no acoustic gaps between adjacent elements, resulting in greatly minimized destructive interference.
The WL-8 Line array speaker from QSC sets new standards for supremely detailed acoustic output from a compact enclosure. At the look of it, the Baltic birch plywood based enclosure looks way too small to even accommodate its dual woofers, yet it produces 135 dB (Peak) SPL and has LF extension to 32 Hz, with all the thump required for popular music.
